Brian, Elliott and I went up to Idaho to my mom's for Easter. We had a lot of fun visiting, but Elliott really brings out the fun in everybody! Brad even came upstairs out of his man-cave to color some Easter pages with Elliott.
They worked well together, coloring different sections of the easter egg.
A nice benefit of country living is all the open spaces and the irrigation ditch running through the pasture and in front of the house provides a lot of fun for the kiddoes. My brothers like to run and jump over the ditch, but for the rest of us is a bridge.
The bridge isn't very wide and can be scary when all the dogs run past you while crossing. Gramma is showing Elliott how to stay on the middle board.
Fans of Winnie the Pooh will know how to play Pooh-sticks. You throw sticks or in our case, grass in the water on one side of the bridge, then turn around and watch for which one comes under the bridge first.
Elliott kept throwing his farther out in the water and so his didn't win.
But he was just playing and having fun, not in it to win it.
Brian played a few rounds too while Mom and I threw toys to the dogs so they could run in the pasture.
Last year, we helped build walls for flower beds in the front, but the back was designated for a dirt pile to play and dig in. For the dogs, Brad and all grand kids. It gets lots of shade in the afternoon and Elliott was quite willing to dig a big hole with Brad.
My city-boy Brian got to feed a horse in the back pasture some grass. He got to pet her head as well. Too bad Brian wasn't around when we had horses, then he could have had a lot more experience. But it's still nice to see horses and cows and rural living.
Saturday night, we mixed the egg dye and started coloring Easter eggs!
Elliott and Bubber make such a great team!
Uh-oh, gotta make sure there are eggs in all the colors!
Elliott was so proud of his eggs!
My mom had boiled 5 dozen eggs, so Brian had to color a dozen all by himself.
I had fun too, although without my brothers around, there was no competition to see who could get the most colors on one egg.
Sunday after church we hunted for candy-filled eggs outside. Elliott loved Brad's reacher that he used to pick up the eggs. Brad is pretty skilled with it.
My cute Easter Buddy!
Gramma got these huge bubble wands for Brad, Brittany and Elliott for Easter. So while Brian took a Sunday nap, we tested out the bubbles. It was pretty windy but we managed to make HUGE bubbles that would split into 2 or 3 smaller bubbles as they floated up and over the house.
It was a little tricky so Elliott preferred trying to jump and pop the bubbles.
Brad, Brittany and Gramma making bubble fun!
Later in the afternoon, it was time to pack up and head for home. We left with yummy potato salad and pumpkin muffins plus all our Easter candy. We had a lovely and relaxing Easter weekend and got home just in time for my morning sickness to begin. At 7 weeks pregnant, it wasn't surprising, but it's always more comfortable to throw up in your own home.
